The editor (not stated here) was Frederik Pohl and later on Ejler Jakobsson.

Author served as a journalist and foreign correspondent for Reuters in China before eventually switching to writing fiction. He left Shanghai along with his wife after narrowly escaping a bomb at the start of the Sino-Japanese War. Later, he and his wife entertained Madame Chiang Kai Shek at their home in Hawai'i.
