The authors were leading exponents of the Alaskan Malamute in North America and in this wortk they follow the development of the breed from its Eskimo origins, its uses as working sled dogs, particularly with Polar expeditions, use in WWII, its recognition by the American Kennel Club and showing and sled racing the breed. While the opening chapters focus on the history of the dog, later material covers sled racing, showing the dogs, champions and pedigrees, leading sires and dams, housing, feeding and grooming, plus much more. A must have book for the Malamute fan. First published 1976 with this sixth printing 1983. 288 pages including bibliography, b/w photos throughout, some drawings in early pages. Colour pictorial hard covers VG with slight bruising to corners, red e/papers, text block excellent, no inscriptions.
