Añadir al carritoPaperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book uniquely explores the lives of the Maya Chontal Indians of Acalan-Tixchel. It examines their history and culture through a combination of archaeological, documentary, and linguistic evidence, painting a vivid picture of their pre-Columbian origins, their encounters with the Spanish, and their subsequent fate. The Chontal, a Mayan people who resided in the Tabasco and Acalan regions, were renowned for their commerce and played a crucial role in the Mesoamerican trade network. The author presents a detailed account of their political structure, religious beliefs, and social organization, offering insights into the complexities of pre-Columbian Mesoamerican societies. The book highlights the Chontal's resilience and adaptability in the face of Spanish conquest, shedding light on the often-overlooked experiences of indigenous communities during this transformative period. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
