Kramer and Cassavetes clashed throught the production, disagreeing on technique as well as the overall message of the film, leading Kramer to fire Cassavetes during the editing of the film. Dr. Matthew Clark (Burt Lancaster), the director of the Crawthorne State Mental Hospital for mentally handicapped and emotionally disturbed children, clashes with newly arrived teacher Jean Hanson (Judy Garland) over the best methods in which to teach the children. Many of the students in the film were portrayed by actual intellectually disabled children from Pacific State Hospital in Pomona, California. Shot on location at the Lanterman Development Center in Pomona, California. 8 x 10 inches. Zu den Schwerpunkten Gesichtsform, Hautfarbe, Hauttöne, Aufheller, Puder, Rouge, Augenbraue, Augen und Lippen weist das Buch Wege zur Selbsteinschätzung und zum typengenauen Make up. Ich liebe dieses Buch! Ich habe lange hin und her überlegt, welches Make-Up-Buch ich mir denn kaufen soll. Dieses Buch hat mich aber in jeder Hinsicht zufrieden gestellt. Zunächst werden einem verschiedene Gesichtsformen und Hauttypen gezeigt und man kann seinen eigenen, inidviduellen Typ herausfinden (ja, es ist einfacher, wenn man auch Freunde fragt, wie sie einen sehen, doch das ist doch nicht unbedingt ein Manko). In den darauf folgenden vier Lektionen werden dann alle Möglichkeiten, Make-Up, Aufheller, Puder und Rouge anzuwenden, erläutert. Das Gute daran ist, dass einem nicht eine bestimmte Methode aufgezwungen wird, man kann sich selbst für die "sympathischste" entscheiden, was z.B. auch bedeutet, dass man nicht unbedingt unzählige Utensilien benötigt, sondern beispielsweise Make-Up auch mit dem Finger auftragen kann. Danach wird in drei Lektionen auf die "Bestandteile" des Gesichts, also Augenbrauen, Lippen und Augen eingegangen. Auch hier kann man zwischen verschiedenen Möglichkeiten auswählen. Wenn es dann tatsächlich an die eigene Praxis geht, muss man auch nicht mehr umständlich jedes Kapitel von Neuem lesen, denn in den Dos und Don'ts, die nach jeder Lektion zusammengefasst sind, sind die wichtigsten Apsekte noch einmal aufgezählt. Einzig die Make-Up-Verwandlungen, also Vorher-Nachher-Bilder, sind nicht so überzeugend. Da sich das aber nicht auf den Lehrinhalt des Buches auswirkt, ist es nicht nötig, einen Stern dafür abzuziehen, es ist einfach ein nicht unbedingt nötiger Zusatz. Alles in allem also ein super Buch!
