Light bumping to cover edges and a small spot of price sticker residue on the front cover. Binding tight (staple bound); pages clean and unmarked. An oblong photographic journal issued by the Historical Society of Long Beach, pairing black-and-white photographs of Long Beach, California in the 1920s with corresponding views of the same locations in the late 1960s. Edited by Robert H. Metzgar, with most photographs drawn from the collection of former Long Beach resident Paul B. Harder and supplemented by images from the Long Beach Harbor Department. The centerfold is a two-page spread of comparative Long Beach city maps from 1920 and 1969. Scenes include the beach and amusement pier, Pine Avenue and Broadway streetscapes, the Laughlin Theater, Farmers and Merchants Bank, the Long Beach Dairy & Creamery Company, an August 1926 bathing beauty pageant, a forest of oil derricks, and aerial views comparing Naples and Belmont Shore in 1920 versus 1969.
