Covers are wine color embossed leather with gilt Holy Bible at the center and 7 raised illustrations representing Luke, Mark, John Temple, Parting of David & Jonathan, Money changers driven out, Noah leaving the ark, Jesus death (?). Covers 1/2 thick with ornate edging. Edges are rubbed and has s…ome fraying. Spine has 5 raised bands, 6 gilt rectangles with: The Parallel Bible in 2nd rectangle, Bible Dictionary and Cities of the Bible in fifth rectangle and 2000 illustrations at bottom of spine. Two ornate nickel clasps at the front. Pages edges are dull gilt. Binding is tight. Content is clean. EPPs are dark blue moire. First free page has a light crack along the spine and is detached (2 inches long). Small stain at the lower corner of 2nd free page. Presentation page is richly colored & illustrated. Name is slightly faded but still legible and has the date of 1889. Frontispiece in color, has the Word of the Lord in Red/White/Blue on gold background. Next page is an ink drawing of Joseph sold by his brethren. Thick paper protecting pictures. Next page is the Red and black Title page. Includes: Names & order of all the Books of the Old & New Testaments with the number of their chapters. Colored Maps. Biographical sketches of the Translators & Reformers, Scholars who rendered the Bible into the English Language. In the back, 4 pages of Family Portraits. First page has Austin Thomas portrait, 2nd page Seth Thomas portrait are inserted. Pages 3 & 4 never had any portraits inserted. Heavy tanning on pages' edges.
