First the 1645 volume of the Minor Poems has been printed entire ; then follow in order the poems added in the reissue of 1673 ; the Paradise Lost, from the edition of 1667 ; and the Paradise Regain'd and Samson Agoniste from the edition of 1671. **There is a presentation notice, dated 1906, inside the front cover and the book has a maroon leatherbound cover with Newington College, Sydney in gilt at front and spine. Milton is described as the "greatest English author" by his biographer William Hayley, and he remains generally regarded as one of the preeminent writers in the English language. Edited after the original texts by Henry Charles Beeching, a British clergyman, writer and poet, who was Dean of Norwich. In the original half vellum binding. Externally, smart with light wear to the extremities and the odd small mark to the boards. Minor discolouration as is typical with ageing. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot. Light spotting to the first and last few pages and minor age toning to the endpapers. Very Good. book.
