Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: Very Good. This appears to be a Second Edition of the Charles Scribner's Sons edition 'Retold by May Byron'. The publishing firm copyrighted the book in 1930 and there is a 'B' on the copyright page. 1934 is on the title page. As you can see from the photos, the covers are in really nice condition, particul…arly notable when you take into account the genre and year of publication. I don't see any conspicuous soiling. There may be a few colorless fingerprints on the rear cover, visible if you slanted the book just so. The cover wear is pretty minimal, light rubbing at the corners, no rub-through. The rear side of the spine off the top edge has a tiny area of rub-through, the same with the bottom edge of the spine (see third photo). The black lettering and design, front and spine, is still quite bright and is unworn. Importantly, the book is very solidly bound from cover to cover with nicely tight pages throughout and nicely tight covers as well. One slight imperfection, while the covers do not bow out, the middle edges, looked at from above, gently curve just slightly outward as they go from the center up to the top and down to the bottom edges, quite minor. The blank first front end paper has some surface scratching. It looks like there was a little writing that was erased. The pages are in nice condition. There are six full-page color plates, including the frontispiece. They are the work of Arthur Rackham. I've accounted for the presence of all six. They are all very clean and in very good condition (two have a tiny tip of the top corner crease). That is the case for a number of the early pages, a tiny crease at the very tip of the top corner. A few of these corners had the tip folded down. I flattened them out. They complied and there was no loss or tear. I'm not seeing any creasing on any of the other pages. There are no turned-down or placeholder creases. I should mention that there's also a black and white frontispiece, a map of Peter Pan's Kensington Gardens. It is in very good condition and there are 15 other black and white illustrations, some full-page. All are in very good condition. There are no markings in the book. No attachments. And there is no writing to be found anywhere in the book, no names, etc., although as I mentioned there appears to have been some erasing on the blank front end paper. I failed to mention something important: the pages are very, very clean. The title page has just a little bit of light spotting off of the glossy color frontispiece facing it, but I don't think I saw any soiling on any of the pages. I'm only seeing one imperfection of any significance: at some point in time a small piece of paper on a text page got stuck to its facing page, the rear blank side of a color plate. As a result, a small bit of that paper (1 inch by 1/4 inch) is currently stuck there. The pulled over surface paper (no holes!) went over part of three words. You can still make them out. The words are 'to', 'the', and 'wouldn't'. There was absolutely no effect on the color plate. Arthur Rackham (ilustrador).
