Traces de brulures (?) sur le plat inférieur. Belle patine Bel ouvrage dans un vélin à recouvrement d'époque de cette rare édition. Régnier de La Planche, Louis (1530 - 1580?) capitaine et historien français, il fut partie prenante dans de nombreux évènement militaires, dont celui de la conjuration d'Amboise : appelé à la cours de Catherine de Médicis il répondit avec une telle franchise à ses questions (notamment sur la nécessité d'éloigner le Duc de Guise) qu'il fut sur le champs arrêté. Libéré après l'intervention du maréchal de Montmorency il fut de nombreuse fois mandée pour conduire des négociations difficiles. Considéré par ses paires pour son esprit droit et honnête il reçut des éloges de De Thou, de La Popelinière, et de Tabaroud, qui dit de lui « il est croyable sur les faits parce qu'il était très honnête homme et qu'il été lui-même employé dans les affaires dont il parle. » « Son histoire de l'état de France imprimé en 1576 est d'après Haag « la meilleure que nous possédions sur ce reigne (L) renferme un grand nombre de pièces intéressantes, d'actes authentiques, d'analyses des écrits publiés par les deux partis ; le style en est clair animé et si correcte, que pas une expression, pour ainsi dire, n'en a vieilli. » Bel exemplaire dans un vélin à recouvrement d'époque de ce très rare texte sur l'histoire de France, écrit par un témoin de son temps.
