Añadir al carrito1946. (4to paper covers) Very good plus. 357pp. Black and white and color illustrations, musical notation. The covers and spine are lightly edgeworn. ".something real lies, I believe, in the very nature of grand oepra itself, and is a form of realism practically impossible to achieve in spoken drama. Spoken drama, because it deals in dialogue and action only, must focus on those comparatively few moments in our lives when something important is happening, usually in the presence of others. Such moments, however dramatic they may be, are likely to be less imtimately real" - from the Preface. Book about Aida, Carmen, Don Giovanni, Faust, Lohengrin & La Traviata. Arranged by Albert Sirmay. Illustrations by Rafaello Busoni. Translated by George Mead. (Music, Music, Music Appreciation, Opera).

Añadir al carritoCondición: Very Good+. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Very Good+. First trade edition, Philadelphia issue (priority unknown) of the basis for the classic Christmas film It's a Wonderful Life. 31 pp with frontispiece and in-text illustrations. Bound in publisher's illustrated blue boards. Very Good+ with light wear, front hinge slightly tender. In a Very Good+ unpriced dust jacket with a bit of edge wear; two innocuous tape repairs at verso. Initially written in 1938 and struggling to find a publisher, the author instead privately printed 200 pamphlet copies and distributed them to friends and family as Christmas cards in 1943. He sold the rights to RKO for $10,000 and the rest is film history. It's a Wonderful Life, starring Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed, went on to receive five Academy Award nominations including Best Picture and Best Actor. A lovely copy of the book that started a holiday tradition.
