Starke Bräunung des Buches. - "Um 1945 wurden in der Nähe von Nage Hammadi (Ober-Ägypten) 13 Papyrushandschriften in Buchform gefunden, die nahezu 50 fast durchwegs unbekannte Schriften in koptischer Sprache enthalten. Sie bildeten anscheinend die Bibliothek einer oberägyptischen Gnostikergemeinde. Die Schriften dieses Fundes stehen den beim Toten Meer gefundenen hebräischen Rollen an wissenschaftlicher Wichtigkeit nicht nach. Was bisher schon über sie und ihren Inhalt gesagt worden ist, hat das leb- hafte Interesse des Publikums und die Aufmerksamkeit der Gelehrten erweckt. Vor allem hat das "Evangelium nach Thomas" das regste Interesse hervorgerufen. Diese Schrift ist auch von besonders hohem Wert. Sie besteht aus einer Sammlung von 114 Aussprüchen Jesu.
