Añadir al carritoT. L. B. Huskinson Ilustrador. This is "Phineas Finn" by Anthony Trollope. It is the Oxford University Press hardcover edition, issued in 1977, and is embellished with the line drawings of T. L. B. Huskinson. The book has an introduction by Shane Leslie. A small impression on the rear cover tells us that this is a book club edition. "Phineas Finn" is the second of Trollope's 'Palliser Novels', and is a thorough satirical send-up (but a joyously sympathetic one) of Parliamentary Politics and English societal culture that formed around Politics. Politics with a capital P were close to Trollope's heart, and in this novel he brings a clear view of Parliamentary shennanigans to the surface. SERIES : The Palliser Novels (No. 2) TITLE : Phineas Finn (bound as 2 volumes in one) AUTHOR : Anthony Trollope (1815 - 1882) PREFACE : Sir Shane Leslie (Sir John Randolph Leslie, 3rd Baronet, 1885 - 1971) Leslie was an Anglo-Irish diplomat and writer who championed Home Rule for Ireland. He was a first cousin of Sir Winston Churchill. NOTES & WHO'S WHO : R. W. Chapman (at the end of the book) ILLUSTRATIONS : T. L. B. Huskinson IMPRINT : Oxford University Press PLACE : Oxford DATE : (1977) EDITION : Third Printing - Issued through a Book Club (a wee stamped impression on the rear cover indicates this) DETAILS : Hardcover Book; approximately 4 7/8" x 7 1/4", brown, cloth-covered boards and spine with gilt lettering against a red panel on the spine; top text-block edge dyed dark brown; contains a Preface and line illustrations; vermilion end-papers; 705 pages. CONDITION -- BOOK : VERY GOOD --- JACKET : VERY GOOD -- This is a previously owned book that remains clean and presentable, with the following particulars noted : BOOK CLUB ISSUE. EXTERIOR -- Boards and spine have good color and negligible wear; gilt lettering is bright; text-block top edge is somewhat rubbed, else edges are clean. Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: Good+. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Good. Green cloth covers with blue lettering on spine. The covers are a bit soiled and scuffed and the spine is slightly cocked. The paper is of cheaper quality - the book appears to have been privately printed; there's no publisher given. There's browning and a bit of discoloration to the end pages and the page edges but the binding is tight. Off-white dust jacket with unidentified portrait on front cover and portrait of Maher on front flap with a review of the book. The dust jacket is a bit soiled and worn. ; First published in Autumn 1954, this reprint was done in Spring 1955. Slievenamon is the famous mountain in County Tipperary, rich in mythology, history and folklore. Charles Kickham romantized the mountain in song and in his book, "Knocknagow." The review on the dust jacket flap states that Kickham depicts the Knocknagow of fiction but Maher in his anthology depicts the Slievenamon of history. This is an anthology of Irish writers' views of the area's local history folklore, its place in national history and in Gaelic lore and in song ; Black and white photos ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; xvi, 301 p. pages.
