Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: Very Good. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Very Good. First Edition. A first printing of the true first edition, published in July 1954. With a four-page Preface by Aneirin Talfan Davies. ***Very good in light-blue cloth-covered boards with gilt titles to the spine. The boards are clean and unmarked - extremities just very slightly rubbed. No serious bumps or creases. Light vertical reading crease to the spine, and a slight reading lean to the binding. Spine tight. Page block edges nice and clean without the usual foxing. Internally also very good, with no ownership inscriptions and no annotations. No creases or tears. Pages clean. ***In a very good illustrated dustwrapper, which has not been price-clipped, retaining the original publisher's printed price of 10s. 6d. net at the top of the front flap. Although largely complete, there is some small loss and rubbing to the top and tail of the spine, and some associated creasing to the edges of the dustwrapper, which are slightly rubbed, nicked and creased. No fading and no browning to the spine. ***190mm x 130mm. 181 pages. ***'Dylan Thomas was born in Swansea in 1914, leaving school in 1932 to become a reporter for the South Wales Daily Post. Many of his works appeared in print while he was still a teenager. In 1934, the publication of "Light breaks where no sun shines" caught the attention of the literary world. While living in London, Thomas met Caitlin Macnamara; they married in 1937 and had three children: Llewelyn, Aeronwy, and Colm. He came to be appreciated as a popular poet during his lifetime, though he found earning a living as a writer difficult. He began augmenting his income with reading tours and radio broadcasts. His radio recordings for the BBC during the late 1940s brought him to the public's attention, and he was frequently featured by the BBC as an accessible voice of the literary scene. Thomas first travelled to the United States in the 1950s; his readings there brought him a degree of fame, while his erratic behaviour and drinking worsened. During his fourth trip to New York in 1953, Thomas became gravely ill and fell into a coma. He died on 9 November, and his body was returned to Wales. On 25 November, he was interred at St. Martin's churchyard in Laugharne, Carmarthenshire.' (Wiki) ***'The many thousands who admired "Under Milk Wood," on the air and in print, will welcome this collection in book form of Dylan Thomas's remarkable radio scripts. Under the title of "Quite Early One Morning" (a piece closely related in its conception to "Under Milk Wood"), the volume was proposed by the author just before he left on what was to be his last journey to New York. It is now edited with a foreword by Aneirin Talfan Davies, of the Welsh Region of the B.B.C., who has arranged the talks (which constitute all that can be preserved in print of Dylan Thomas's contribution to the broadcasting medium) in two sections.' (Quote taken from the front flap of the dustwrapper) ***A first printing of the true first edition of "Quite Early One Morning", in very good condition, in the original dustwrapper. ***For all our books, postage is charged at cost, allowing for packaging: any shipping rates indicated on ABE are an average only: we will reduce the P & P charge where appropriate - please contact us for postal rates for heavier books and sets etc.
