Hardcover. Condición: Very Good+. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Good+. First Edition. Drawings; Oblong 8vo 8" to 9" tall; [SIGNED] 1968 Gemini Press : Viking Press. Oblong format HC/DJ. First edition stated. Inscribed âFor Peace â" alwaysâ in pencil and dated 1973 on the half-title by illustrator Reg Pollack to Washington artist Joseph Eanet and his wife Alma, a longtime Washington-area soprano. Soundly bound and clean in publisher's black cloth lettered in white to spine. Graphic pictorial dust jacket retains the $5.00 issue price to the front flap but is considerably worn at edges. Rubbing and a few short tears to the top edge of the front panel, with a larger number of longer closed tears to edges at rear. Prior owner's extensive old tape mends to the tears, largely placed on the blank verso. A darkly satirical Vietnam-era alphabet, using the familiar children's ABC-book format to catalogue the threats, absurdities and anxieties of contemporary American life. Writer Merrill Pollack and his twin brother Reginald were both WWII combat veterans, lending particular weight to the book's antiwar perspective. Reginald Pollack went on to a substantial career as a painter, printmaker and sculptor, exhibiting widely with work entering numerous major museum collections. Each opening presents a set of three words at verso facing a generally quite disturbing rendering by Reg Pollack at recto. VG+/G++; Signed by Author. Reginald Pollack (ilustrador).…

Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: VG-. Estado de la sobrecubierta: G+. First Edition First Printing. An imaginary tale in the style of ancient legends, this is the first fictional work by American poet, literary critic, & professor John Hollander (1929-2013), illustrated with marvelously mythical pen-and-ink drawings by artist Reginald Pollack (1994-2001) throughout the 166 pages. A FIRST EDITION, First Printing, from Atheneum, 1966, it is SIGNED with a personalized inscription & full-page sketch to half-title page by the illustrator. While copies signed by the author are not uncommon, ones signed by the illustrator are quite scarce. With black textured cloth-covered boards, stamped with bright gilt lettering to spine, this small quarto (5.5" x 9.5") is in VG- condition: completely clean & bright inside, pages white & unmarked, binding strong & straight. Condition downgraded due to rubbing with slight color loss & teeny holes to upper & lower extremities. The unclipped DJ is VG-/Good+: intact with slight darkening, large triangular crease bounded by 2 unclosed tears to bottom edge of back cover; nicely protected in new clear mylar cover free! Our photos depict the Exact book you will receive, never "stock" images of books we don't actually have! Same Day Shipping on all orders received by 2 pm Weekdays (Pacific time); later orders, weekends & holidays ship very next business day. Pollack, Reginald (ilustrador). Inscribed by Illustrator(s).…
