Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: Very Good. 1st Edition. First Edition (NAP, 1912 on the title page). Reading through the condition descriptions of the other first editions I feel confident in asserting that the condition of this book is unusually good. You can see that in the photos of the covers. They are exceptionally clean, one little white spot just off the bottom edge of the spine. The gilt lettering and design on both the front cover and spine looks terrific. It's very bright and without wear. The cover edges look terrific as well. There's one little dent at the rear bottom one. The corners are also in excellent shape. The top page edge is brown. It looks very good. The middle and bottom page edges are deckled or rough-cut. The book is solidly bound. There's only a slight space between the top edge of the spine and the text block, but when the book is open wide the spine can be jiggled back and forth a little. That feels a little odd, but doesn't appear to be relevant to anything. The covers are nicely tight. They do each make one very soft crinkling sound when opened or closed. But most significantly, in a book that seems to have (from others descriptions), common binding issues, there are no cracks or spaces between any of the pages or between the covers and any of the pages. The inside covers an end papers look very good. So too the text pages, although they do have some light amber foxing at each of their margins. Other than that, I didn't see any conventional soiling on any of the pages. The semi-glossy illustrations (and there are great many of them) do not appear to have any foxing at their margins (usually it's the other way around) and all appear to be exceptionally clean and free of wear. I found one instance of a tiny crease off the top edge of one illustrated page, just adjacent to its juncture with the facing page. I found only one conspicuous top corner crease on a text page and one small tear on each of two different text pages. Also, the first two pages of the Preface are uncut. I turned over each of the first hundred plus pages to see whether that was common and did not come upon another instance of it. Scrolling through the others (350 pages followed by two pages of advertisements) I didn't find any other uncut pages, but no guarantees. There are no markings in the book. No attachments of any kind. Off the top edge of the blank first front end paper there is a neatly written inscription: 'Caroline Clement Brown from H.S.B., 11- 20- 17.' There is no other writing to be found anywhere in the book.
