In this book will be found a selection of Russian poems by Sergei Yesenin, one of the most popular 20th century Russian poets. Helpfully, the Russian text is printed on the L/H page with the English translation on the right, to help the student. At the back of the book is a section of monochrome photographs of the poet, his family, friends and associated buildings (school, museum, etc). Sergei Alexandrovich Yesenin (1895-1925), sometimes spelled Esenin, was a Russian lyric poet, one of the most popular and well-known Russian poets of the 20th century. One of his narratives was lyrical evocations of and nostalgia for the village life of his childhood - no idyll, presented in all its rawness, with an implied curse on urbanisation and industrialisation. Our book is in very nice condition, and comes with an unclipped dust jacket, also in good condition. Bound in green cloth with publisher's emblem in red on front & spine, and title in black lettering on the spine, the book is in 'very good' condition externally, and inside is tightly bound with clean, bright pages. Previous owner's name in biro on front fep, dated 1990. Copyright © Progress Publishers, Moscow.
