Añadir al carritoThe Atlantic species which we attribute to the genera Chrysallida s.l. (Heterostropha, Pyramidellidae) cited or found in the West coast of Africa, from the Mediterranean until South Africa, are revised. In total we consider 44 taxa with specific validity, from which 4 are cited by first time in the study area (C. emaciata, C. ghisotti, C. nivosa and C. palazzii), for 11 the known distribution area is enlarged (C. clathrata, C. dimidiata, C. dollfusi, C. excavata, C. fenestrata, C. impercepta, C. interstincta, C. intumescens, C. juliae, C. sergei and C. sigmoidea), 12 are new for science. All them are described and most of them are figured. Further more some taxa considered valid until now are passed at synonymy. At the end of the work a dicotomic key for the identification of all the signalized species, a table showing their geographic distribution and a synonymy list, are presented. New taxa: Chrysallida verdensis n. sp., Chrysallida manonegra n. sp., Chrysallida sixtoi n. sp., Chrysallida jordii n. sp., Chrysallida pinguis n. sp., Chrysallida gubbiolii n. sp., Chrysallida pyrgulina n. sp., Chrysallida herosae n. sp., Chrysallida anselmoi n. sp., Chrysallida mauritanica n. sp., Chrysallida pelorcei n. sp., Chrysallida eugeniae n. sp., 73 pp., 176 figs, br. gr. 8.

Añadir al carritoThis work is the continuation of the study of the Pyramidellidae from deep waters in the Central and Tropical South Pacific collected by IRD and MNHN in numerous campaigns over the years. In this work the species belonging to the tribes Eulimellini and Syrnolini have been included. In total 154 species have been studied, 8 of which were previously known (but one with a non valid name), whereas the remaining 146 proved to be new to science. The type material of the already known species is displayed and micrographs to the scanning electron microscope of the material of the new species have been shown. In the tribe Eulimellini, a total of 110 species have been studied; they belong to six genera: Hamarilla, Ebalina, Eulimella, Raoulostraca, Bouchetmella (new genus) and Careliosis. The great majority of species (92) were included in the genus Eulimella. In the tribe Syrnolini, 44 species have been studied, belonging to 6 genera: Iphiana, Syrnola, Puposyrnola, Colsyrnola, Styloptygma and Aghata; most species (35) were included in the genus Syrnola. In the Conclusions and Comments part, information about the number of specimens collected for each species, its geographical distribution and bathymetry area are mentioned. A new name is given to Eulimella angusta (Saurin, 1959) non Watson, 1886. 301 pp., 75 figs, br. gr. 8.

Añadir al carritoThe Atlantic species of the genera Turbonilla (s.l.) and Eulimella (Heterostropha, Pyramidellidae) cited or found in the West coast of Africa are reviewed. Specimens studied and localities are indicated for each species, stablishing the taxa considered valid and its synonyms. In all, 61 species of the genus Turbonilla are described, 23 are considered as new to science and described for the first time in the present paper. Within the genus Eulimella 23 species are mentioned, 7 of them are described as new. For each species, data on their geographic distribution range, previously known and new information are reported. A key to species on both genera is included. 105 pp., 258 figs., broch., gr. 8.

Añadir al carritoCouverture rigide. Condición: Comme neuf. Edition originale. Paris 2010. 1 Volume/1. -- Hardback ( 27,6 x 22,5 cm )( 1740 gr) . ------- 436 pages. ************************* '' The Pyramidellidae are a species-rich family of small gastropods which live as ectoparasites on other marine invertebrates. Their subtle variations around a quite homogenous basic morphology make species-level taxonomy extremely difficult. This volume contains the descriptions of 272 species collected in the last 30 years of deep-sea benthic exploration promoted by MNHN and IRD scientists. More than three-quarters of the species are new to science, and more is to come with the other genera to be studied following Turbonilla. This paper takes a step forward towards answering some questions regarding the mega-diverse Indo-Pacific. What is really the order of magnitude of species richness? How are numbers of individuals distributed among species? How heterogeneous is the fauna on a geographic scale? Anselmo Peñas and Emilio Rolán have a considerable background in malacology, mostly European and Eastern Atlantic. Their venture with the Pyramidellidae started with the European and West African species, in a series of papers which appeared in the Spanish malacological journal Iberus, in which new species appeared by the dozens. The move to the Indo-Pacific goes up one order of magnitude, and only the great XIX century expeditions match similar numbers of new species introduced in a single paper. . Añadir al carritoThe work focuses on the genera and species of the tribe Chrysallidini (Gastropoda, Pyramidelloidea) from deep water of the tropical Central and South Pacific, collected mainly during Tropical Deep-Sea Benthos expeditions conducted by IRD and MNHN in New Caledonia, Solomon Islands, Fiji, Tonga, Vanuatu, Wallis and Futuna, French Polynesia and the Philippines. I total, 233 species are reported on, among which only 21 could be identified to previously known species and 212 are described as new to science. The genus Chrysallida Carpenter, 1856 defined in a restricted sense was not found represented in our material, and the studied species are distributed in the following genera: 8 in Helodiamea n. gen., 1 in Polemicella Schander, Hori & Lundberg, 1999, 1 in Waikura Marwick, 1931, 1 in Trabecula Monterosato, 1884, 1 in Perheida n. gen., 6 in Ovalina n. gen., 2 in Folinella Dall & Bartsch, 1904, 50 in Parthenia Bucquoy, Dautzenberg & Dollfus, 1883, 84 in Pyrgulina A. Adams, 1863, 12 in Quirella Laseron, 1956, 4 in Mumiola A. Adams, 1863, 3 in Herewardia Iredale, 1955, 3 in Costabieta Laseron, 1956, 2 in Eurathea Laseron, 1959, 1 in Maricarmenia n. gen., 17 in Miralda A. Adams, 1863, 18 in Oscilla A. Adams, 1863, 6 in Babella Dall & Bartsch, 1906, 12 in Rissopsetia Dell, 1956 and 1 in Careliopsis Mörch, 1875 (the latter, as addendum in tribe Turbonillini). The genus Rissopsetia is tentatively included within the Chrysallidini. Most of the species are rare: there are 32 species represented only by one shell, 101 species by less than three, whereas only 14 species are represented by more than 50 specimens or shells. The highest number of species was found in the Solomin Is. (141 species), followed by Fiji (74 species), Vanuatu (65 species), New Caledonia (59 species), the Philippines (40 species) whereas species richness was lower in the Marquesas (32 species) and Australes Archipelago (5 species). About half of the species (115) were found in only one island group, these possibly endemic species being generally between 16.2% (Fiji Is.) and 31.9% (Solomon Is.) of the total number of species; a still higher number of endemic species was found in Tonga (50%) and Astrales Archipelago, but this regards a very small number of species and the proportion of unique species in the remote Marquesas Archipelago (28.1%) is suprisingly lower than in the Solomon Islands. There are very few widespread species: only four species (Parthenina extenta n. sp., Parthenina copiosa n. sp., Pyrgulina perscalata (Hedley, 1909), Pyrgulina pupaeformis (Souverbie & Montrouzier, 1865)) were found in five or more island groups, and 16 more in four island groups.
