Mykhailo Mykhailovych Kotsiubynsky (18641913) was a Ukrainian author renowned for his depictions of Ukrainian life in the early 20th century. His popular novels were later adapted into Soviet films. Apollon Trembovetskyi, using the pseudonym Petro Pavlovych (1913-1968), was a journalist and civic activist. He was an eyewitness to the "Vinnytsia Massacre" during WWII and authored numerous books and articles on the subject. After relocating to the United States, he became President of the Democratic Alliance of Formerly Repressed Ukrainians from the Soviet Union and Vice-president of the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America. He also contributed to the Svoboda periodical. Leonid Denysenko is a Ukrainian Australian artist known for inventing the graphic art technique "literography." Born in Warsaw in 1926 to Ukrainian émigré parents, he studied art in Poland. Post-WWII, he worked as an artist with the U.S. armed forces in Germany.
