Scarce photographic survey of the post-war scene in London, including Petticoat Lane market, the bookshops on Charing Cross Road, Waterloo Bridge and many familiar street-scapes. Eileen Olive Deste (1908-1986) was born in Croydon but emigrated to New Zealand for many years, becoming the official photographer for the New Zealand Centennial Exhibition before returning to London in the 1940s; much of heer work is in the Historic England Archive.
