En este primer volumen dedicado al ?Legado cultural que recibe Europa: de la Antigüedad al paradigma imperial cristiano?, la autora afronta en su primera parte el estudio de tres elementos culturales esenciales, su función comunitaria y su interacción en la Antigüedad: el templo, el gobernante y el derecho. Tres elementos muy desarrollados en las grandes civilizaciones mesopotámicas, sirio-palestinas y egipcia, que la civilización grecolatina asimila, integra y modifica en parte, a lo largo de distintas etapas históricas de retroalimentación cultural. En la segunda parte se analiza el origen y desarrollo del paradigma imperial cristiano y del paradigma pontificio cuando el cristianismo niceno triunfa como la religión oficial y exclusiva del Imperio Romano. La confrontación entre ambos paradigmas, que aspiran a controlarse recíprocamente, los desgastará en el ejercicio del poder, y canalizará la emergencia de otros modelos políticos y religiosos en la Europa medieval al amparo del paradigma humanista cristiano. Un proceso en el que tanto la instrumentalización de la religión en el ámbito político, como la función del derecho en el ejercicio del poder, han dado como resultado el legado político, religioso y jurídico europeo. Un viaje intelectual a nuestra historia común con datos y propuestas novedosas que analizan los planteamientos estereotipados, desde una relectura jurídica, social y cultural en la que se ofrecen al lector numerosas claves para realizar su propia reflexión crítica.
