Certainement le roman le plus caractéristique du genre dans l'Antiquité, c'est également le mieux construit. Il servit de modèle en France au début du XVIIe siècle et exerça une influence notable sur la production littéraire des fictions en prose de cette époque. Edition illustrée de 52 gravures de Michel Lasne, J. Briot, Crispin de Passe et Matheus d'après les dessins de Daniel Rabel. Ces illustrations sont dans un excellent tirage, bien contrasté, le dessin y est très net, élégant et d'une grande sobriété.
