Añadir al carritoCondición: Gut. 33 p., num. ill. Ein tadelloses Exemplar. - Contents: Cover: "Corp Streamers" it was stated that the Girls' Festival (or the Doll's Festival) falls on the third day of the third month (March 3rd) and that the Bovs' Festival (or the Feast of Flags) on the fifth day of the fifth month (May 5th). While the Girls' Festival is symbolized by dolls, the Boys' Festival is represented by carp streamers. The vitality of a carp, which swims up stream against rapid waters, is associated with the image of a boy who is capable of self-possession under all adversities. The carp streamer, which is an object of art designed by the Japanese, is indicative of the parents' prayer for the happiness and healthy growth of their sons. With trees full of young buds, hills and fields alive with a variety of flowers, distant mountains still capped with snow and carp streamers waving in the balmy breezes here and there, the best season of the year is the early part of May. It should not be overlooked that cotton or silk cloth, which used to be the material of carp streamers, has recently given place to modern nylon cloth which is light in weight, durable and waterproof at the same time.
