The vitality of a carp, which swims up stream against rapid waters, is associated with the image of a boy who is capable of self-possession under all adversities. The carp streamer, which is an object of art designed by the Japanese, is indicative of the parents' prayer for the happiness and healthy growth of their sons. With trees full of young buds, hills and fields alive with a variety of flowers, distant mountains still capped with snow and carp streamers waving in the balmy breezes here and there, the best season of the year is the early part of May.
