Script credit was ultimately given to Pamela Bower. Based on the 1913 novel by E. C. Bentley. A reporter is assigned to cover the case of an international businessman in town who was found dead. He poses as a member of the family to gain access to the businessman's house and information from the lead detective on the case who suspects the death was a suicide. Set in Hampshire, England. Blue titled wrappers, noted as First Draft on the front wrapper, rubber-stamped copy No. 12, dated May 22, 1947, with credits for novelist E.C. Bentley and screenwriter Mel Dinelli.
