The sheet is not printed letterpress, but the cards are a very attractive record of Old Stile Press books. Fine.

Limited to 1000 copies, but the first 250 have a loosely inserted, hand printed 'jeu d'esprit' which is included in this copy as it is no. 46, quarto (29x21x2m), original pictorial boards with cellophane wrapper,mint condition. This is a fully illustrated bibliography of the press with lots of explanatory notes by the printers. Apart from the numerous black and white illustrations there is a section of coloured plates. The jeu d'esprit is a beautifully printed 'Two Hymns to Pan' and there is also a small typographic 'If' both on paper made by Frances McDowall.

Beneath this is the signature of Heather Tanner. Book: painted boards held by green morocco yokes to the head and foot of the spine. The remaining section of the spine is exposed. Five green morocco bands cross the covers and spine, ending in eyelets on either side. The binding fits into a open wooden frame with metal brackets at the joints and lined in suede. Slight rubbing to edges of the boards where the book slides in and out of the frame. Small scratch to the rear board. Faces of page block painted to match the boards. Pictorial pastedowns of a winding road bordered by trees. Brown suede first and final endapers. An attractive selection of sketches in B&W with accompanying notes/ poetic/prose fragments etc. Further details available on request. Page edges rough cut. An intensely personal work by Eric Gill originally published by Robert Gibbings at the Golden Cockerel Press in 1926 as a limited run. This lavish new edition - faithful to the original - is a similarly limited edition, is hand-numbered as No. 10 hors commerce (of 15, outside of the run of 60 copies made available for general sale). Nicolas McDowall designed this publication, typesetting and printing in Gill's Aries typeface at Catchmays Court, Llandogo, Monmouthshire. The intaglio printing (all direct from Eric Gill's copper plates - five fine copper engravings) is by Martyn Grimmer, masterprinter at Spike Island in Bristol. Preface by Frances and Nicolas McDowall. Slight discolouration to upper front panel of slipcase, otherwise near fine condition.
