Añadir al carritoHardcover. This monograph, designed by Joseph Logan in close collaboration with the artist, presents a selection of works from the early 1970s to today, demonstrating the artist's conceptual foundations. Welling's series are dialogues between image and matter, process and result, representation and abstraction. This volume includes, amongst other series, selections from 'Diary/Landscape, ' in which Welling matched the writing of his ancestors' letters with Connecticut winter landscapes; 'Glass House' a meditation on Philip Johnson's 1949 residence, shot using colored filters; examples from his 'Degrade s, ' pure color photograms created in the darkroom as well as selections from his recent 'Wyeth' and 'Choreograph' track his early interest in painting and dance. The illustrations are accompanied by an extensive interview with the artist and critical essays that discuss Welling's work in connection with American painting, post-modernism, and authorship, and the artist's eloquently emotional photographic language. 0Exhibition: S.M.A.K., Ghent, Belgium (28.01. - 16.04.2017) / Kunstforum Wien, Vienna, Austria (05.05. - 16.07.2017). VG. Light sticker residue on spine, otherwise clean and unmarked.

Añadir al carritoFirst edition. 11.5 x 9 inches. 184 pages. Profusely illustrated in color. Original pictorial boards. Published on the occasion of the exhibition held at Kestnergesellschaft, Hannover in 2013. "Since the 1990s, Rachel Harrison (born 1966) has developed a colorful and delightfully grotesque sculptural idiom out of the most contemporary detritus--styrofoam, plastic buckets, vacuum cleaners--which she blends with slapstick humor and art historical and pop cultural references. Fake Titel presents sculptures and drawings from three recent series: The Help (2012), the large-scale installation Incidents of Travel in Yucatan (2011) and the photographic suite Sunset Series (2000-2012). The Help examines the roles of the artist, the muse and the "help," mixing found objects with abstract forms; Incidents of Travel in Yucatan is a mixed-media installation including a wall of pedestals, autonomous sculptures and video; and the Sunset Series comprises 31 photographs of a single source image, a photograph of a sunset. In each photograph in the series, shot on 35mm film, the artist physically manipulates the found snapshot to create a new image" (the publisher). A fine, well-preserved copy with no markings.

Añadir al carritoPaperback. Condición: New. Gerhard Richter (*1932) is an exceptional personality - not because his pictures are world famous, but because he has demonstrated a new approach to painting. His art masterfully moves between abstraction and representation, sensuousness and denial - ambiv alent attitudes which he demonstrated even in his early work. Gerhard Richter's oeuvre overcomes the division between abstract and representational art. His pictures neither cultivate a modest interplay of colours and forms nor do they deliver an intact p icture of reality. Richter is a sceptical artist who questions the reality of his art even when the prime subject of his paintings is the tangible. This applies in particular to his door, curtain and window pictures of the 1960s, which form the central foc us of this volume. They stage a playful examination of the illusory nature of art, which always questions what painting shows or conceals. This lavishly appointed volume is published to mark the artist's 85th birthday.
