Voss, fu un importante teologo calvinista, filologo e storico, che insegnò a Leida e Amsterdam. L'impressione in esame è arricchita da varie voci a cura di A. S. Mazzocchi, insigne epigrafista e biblista italiano. Il volume è corredato di ampi indici, nei quali vengono segnalati le aggiunte a cura di Mazzocchi.
