Introduction, annotations, and appendix by Jeff Dykes. Drawings by E. M." Buck" Schiwetz. This is a 1962 FACSIMILE reprint of the 1871 original. The original was printed in booklet form in 1871 and given away by the Union Pacific Railroad as a propaganda piece to encourage settlement of the the west. Dr. Hiram Latham was a surgeon in the employ of the Union Pacific when he wrote it. It was the first book ever printed about a major segment of our range country. Even though thousands of copies were given away in the early 1870's, very few survive today. This reprint was made 90 years after the original . Book's spine is very slightly slanted. Text and illustrations are clean and bright. Spine gently bumped at both ends. Dust jacket is lightly faded at spine. A bit of wrinkling to head of spine panel. Dust Jacket now protected in Mylar. This Is a beautiful book. Ships same or next business day. Six Score #68, 44&44 #71, Howes L118. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 93 pages.
