Small splits to spine head and tail, with a 5cm split to the spine tail back edge. Sunned spine with longitudinal crease. Stains to the faces, more so to the front. Partially cracked hinges. Inscription to front end paper. The binding is firm, the leaves secure, but with gutter gaps (see photo) between some leaf signatures. The pages are fairly clean with occasional staining or soiling. Moderate even dirt to text block edges. Overall fair to good.

This is a gently whimsical account by a 28-year-old bachelor of two weeks' babysitting his sister's darling boys, Budge and Toddie. 185 pp. of good, clean fun, for the reader, at least ! A tight, attractive later state of the first hardbound printing (6 ad pages instead of 2) of this popular humorous novel.

A lovely set of the first books that were a literary success by this author and became a great humorous classic in rather scarce first editions and one with nice inscriptions.
