Nacido en Terra Haute, Indiana, parece haber vivido y trabajado en Chicago, y luego en Florida, donde murió. Su padre era originario de Hesse-Darmstadt, Alemania, y la familia tenía una tienda de música ('Palacio de la Música') en Terra Haute. Parte de la música de Albert fue publicada en Chicago por su hermana, Louise Küssner, una cantante.
