An excellent scholarly study delivered as three lectures by the Regius Professor of Hebrew, Queen's College, Cambridge. Lecture I: The Nucleus of the Book of Isaiah; Lecture II: Enlargement of the Original Book of Isaiah by the Addition of Prophecies Composed in the Babylonian and Persian Periods; Lecture III: Modification of the Enlarged Book of Isaiah During the Maccabaean Period, and Addition to It of Prophecies Recently Composed. Index & Passages of Scripture Quoted or Referred to. Clean and solid copy by a top scholar. There are a number of inoffensive (to my way of thinking) vertical pen lines in the margins that have been used to highlight certain passages, plus there are several very small, old, and elegantly penned quotations from Isaiah in some margins (e.g., pages 6, 10, 12, 15, 18, 22, 27, 33, 41). Previous owner's names on front pastedown and free front endpaper.
