Acanthus, asymmetrically, refers to a new work made by Wilding for the Offer Waterman gallery's entrance hall in London and is inspired by the building's heritage as the former headquarters of William Morris & Co.This site-specific wall piece; comprising hand-printed wallpaper with sculptural element attached, translates and re-imagines the Acanthus motif of Morris, rendered with a deliberate asymmetry, typical of Wilding's sculpture. The exhibition at Offer Waterman's Mayfair gallery includes 12 new and recent sculptures, alongside a selection of works on paper and prints.Whilst she is known for the broad range of materials Wilding has used in her sculpture, apparently delighting in the tension between hard and soft, transparent and opaque etc.She pragmatically refutes that materiality is a significant driver in her work, stating: 'I'm not obsessed with materials and if I have used a huge variety over the years it's because there's lots of it freely available in the world. I don't believe in a hierarchy of materials. A well-produced exhibition catalogue showcasing Locher's typographical and other art arrangements. Contains an essay on Locher's approach to ordering by Dan Cameron: "logic and order are the first refuges of the civilized person in the face of impending chaos". Locher is a German artist working in neo-conceptual art, known for his spatial text-based works and installations. Near fine condition.

Short introductory essay by Patrick Langley: "Superfluidity is an abstruse scientific phenomenon. Yet its behaviour is recognisable from sci-fi films and dreams. First observed in 1908 by the Dutch physicist and Nobel laureate Heike Kamerlingh Onnes during experiments into the physical properties of supercooled helium gas, superfluids appear to be almost conscious (.) Acrylic paint is not a superfluid. Yet Barlow's painting technique emphasises its most active qualities. By thinning the paint with water, layering it onto unprimed canvas placed horizontally in his studio, reshaping, retouching and scraping away parts of the acrylic as it dries, Barlow encourages the paint to split, seep, pool, and drape its pigment in tangled patterns of branching lines". Very good condition.
