"Seventy-Five Illustrations in the Text, Many in Colors" Scarce title by, according to what I've gleaned in research, the Chief of Medicine and first full-time professor at Johns Hopkins, recurited from Columbia Univ. in 1914. Author lived 1872-1917, graduated 1892 Yale. I've seen two dates for the invention of the sphygmomanometer - 1891 & 1896, the invention credited to Samuel von Basch. Eight sphygmomanometers are discussed, including the author's own. Low and high blood-pressure, variations in the individual, internal diseases, infectious diseases, diseases of the brain, blood-pressure during operations, surgical accidents, impaired nutrition, etc. Bibliography of Literature.
