Añadir al carritoOriginal Wraps. Condición: Very Good. Estado de la sobrecubierta: No Jacket, as Issued. Jean Cocteau Ilustrador. First UK Paperback Edition. First impression of the first UK paperback edition, published by Brilliance Books in November 1986. Translated from the French by Dorothy Williams. With a new introduction by Serena Thirkell. Illustrated with fifteen black and white drawings by Jean Cocteau. ***Very good in black and white illustrated card covers. The covers are nice and clean, with hardly any marks - just a feint sticker residue at the top of the front cover. A few top corners of the pages (pp. 57-80) are slightly creased. No reading creases to the spine. Internally also very good, with a previous owner's name to the top of the inside front cover. No other annotations. Pages clean. ***198mm x 128mm. 163 pages. ***'Jean Maurice Eugène Clément Cocteau (5 July 1889 - 11 October 1963) was a French poet, playwright, novelist, designer, film director, visual artist and critic. He was one of the foremost artists of the surrealist, avant-garde, and Dadaist movements and an influential figure in early 20th century art. The National Observer suggested that, "of the artistic generation whose daring gave birth to Twentieth Century Art, Cocteau came closest to being a Renaissance man." Though his body of work encompassed many different mediums, Cocteau insisted on calling himself a poet, classifying the great variety of his works - poems, novels, plays, essays, drawings, films - as "poésie", "poésie de roman", "poésie de thêatre", "poésie critique", "poésie graphique" and "poésie cinématographique"'. (Wiki) ***'"The Miscreant", his first novel, tells the tale of Jacques Forester, a parasitic dilettante who adored beauty in both men and women and strove to find happiness and joy in his adolescence. A sparkling evocation of Paris in the twenties, "The Miscreant" can still stir its readers today with its sense of style, elegance and wit. Illustrated with fifteen drawings by Jean Cocteau.' (Quote taken from the back cover) ***First impression of the first UK paperback edition (with a new introduction by Serena Thirkell) of Jean Cocteau's first novel. ***For all our books, postage is charged at cost, allowing for packaging: any shipping rates indicated on ABE are an average only: we will reduce the P & P charge where appropriate - please contact us for postal rates for heavier books and sets etc.
