Original Shearwater Pottery pamphlet undated but likely to be circa 1941 for it was acquired among a batch of Mississippi Pilgrimage brochures published for that same year. White semi-gloss stock paper; folded dimensions are H 15.3cm x L 10.3cm which folds out to three panels (total L 30.6cm) printed on both sides. Brief text reviews the history of Shearwater and the three Anderson brothers - Peter Anderson, Walter Inglis Anderson, and James McConnell Anderson - and includes five inset b/w images showing a decorated bowl, a set of stock pitchers or ewers, a wall plaque with candleholders, a horse-mounted black figurine, and a set of unglazed stylized football figurines. The cover panel shows a drawing of a stylized seagull aloft over water, an image which is still used as the cover art on Shearwater's current brochures. An interesting publication which demonstrates the Anderson brothers' unity in the pottery, a condition which later dissipated as Walter sank further into mental illness and neglected his Shearwater slip-casting and decoration duties in favor of pursuing his own solo artistic endeavors of painting and drawing at Horn Island. Some creases at corners but still a very good copy of an uncommon piece of Shearwater ephemera.
