Pale green boards have crisp gilt on front and top page edgings and slightly dulled on the spine. Scratching to front boards. Small spotting to rear boards. Spotting to some pages. Slight lean to volume. Sunning and wear to ragged deckle page edgings on side and bottom. Small ding along top edge of front boards. Along with the embossed gilt flower illustration on the front boards, there is also embossed in gilt:"C.V.F./ A.H.S.-1900". There is a calling card lain inside the rear boards which reads:"Mrs. James Hartzell. With Best Wishes." "With Best Wishes" is written in pencil along with a name that could be C.V.F. Mrs. James Hartzell is known in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for a monument to her for founding the animal humane society. Inside both boards have damage from the removal of something that was attached to the flyleaves. Front flyleaf has a 2 inch hole. Inside both boards have been weakened with separations to the netting.
