Likely early printing - no publishing date nor edition/printing statement provided (general presentation and typeset certainly seem contemporary to 1940s). 498 pages. Hardcover: H 23.75cm x L 16cm. No dust jacket. Green cloth with light staining and soiling; patches of white paper adhered to rear board; dulling to front board's gilt stamping but lettering still easily legible. Foxing/toning most prevalent upon several initial and rear leaves; occasional toning to interior leaves with strongest occurrences at gutter margins. Binding is firm. A very good- copy. Laid-in between pages 308-309 is folded mimeographed sheet with single-sided text and illustration for "Gurtler Atomic Stage Pile" trick. Although unstated as such, this is Volume I of what became a three volume series; the successive volumes were issued in 1968 and 1980.

Not to be confused with the Squash Publishing revised version of the book. Excellent tight, clean copy. No jacket, as issued.

Each issue has 28 pages staple-bound in illustrated stiff paper covers, and includes articles by Sid Lorraine, Percy Abbott, Eddie Joseph, Harry Louine, and many other magicians. There are also pages of ads for effects sold by Abbott's. Virtually all issues are in very good condition: clean bright, tight, and free of creases, with light to moderate toning of pages. Saddle-stitched. First Edition. Octavo, various pages counts, 1936-1941., 6 volumes Quarto, various page counts, 1942-1957, 16 volumes. The octavo issues are Very Good minus, all have age toning to the spine and pages with some light soiling of the covers and all are tightly stapled to the covers. The Quarto issues are Good plus, as the paper they were printed on was a low quality. Issues have age toning, brittleness in some of the issues, an occasional one has fold/bends. This is a near complete run only missing issues April 1945, January-February 1946 and June 1954 There are duplicates of March-December 1946, January, February, April-December 1947 and February 1952.
