Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: g. First edition. Octavo. XL, 328pp. 3/4 crushed morocco over marbled paper covered boards, with gold lettering and illustration on spine. Raised bands. Top edge gilt. Marbled endpapers. Frontispiece. Here we have a very complete account of Nandi customs and institutions, based upon four years of careful inquiries. Before studying physical types, customs, institutions and folklore of the Nandi, the author began by mastering the language, which in its general construction resembles Masai. Mr. Hollis's study is a most valuable addition to our knowledge of the non-Bantu people of East Africa, and an important supplement to the one he has already given us in "The Masai". This work is profusely illustrated with 53 in-text figs, XLIV b/w photographic plates, and a color folding map bound at rear. Some age-wear on binding with rubbing along edges and joints with abrasion on morocco. Tail of spine slightly chipped and partly detached. Some cracking and minor abrasion on spine. Previous owner's bookplate on inside of front board. Previous owner's blind stamp on fly leaf. Binding in overall good-, interior in very good condition.
