Hardcover. Condición: Very Good. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Very Good. Jacket and illustrations by C. Walter Hodges Ilustrador. 1st Edition. First published in 1969, this is a second impression of 1970. Some slight edge wear to top and bottom of jacket and spine, corners and folds rubbed, not price clipped (£1.00p, 20s), no inscriptions, internally clean tight and square, overall a vg++ copy for its age. 111pp, illustrated. A true story retold in fictional form. In January 1899 the 'Forest Hall', a three masted full rigged ship foundered in the Bristol Channel in one of the worst storms of a lifetime. The lifeboatmen were unable to put to sea at Lynmouth.Their only chance to save the crew of the 'Forest Hall' was to tow their boat overland to Porlock, thirteen miles away. C. Walter Hodges' classic book is a tale of human endeavour and bravery, of courage and determination in the face of ferocious weather, set against the background of Exmoor's beautiful coastline, so placid in summertime but so terrifying in winter.
