William Howard Taft stayed, and dined, at the club during his 1909 visit to the Twin Cities. Then-Colonel Theodore Rooseve visited the club in 1901, just before becoming president. Carroll D. Wright, the US Commissioner of Labor, presented comments on the Coal Strike of 1902 at the club.

Henry Doerr, 1847 - 1906, had a photography studio at 12th and Market Streets, Louisville. Originals were circa 1890's.
