A ten-page stapled brochure providing cast and credits, film story and advertising. Fine condition. From the producer of the James Bond films, Play Dirty is a British commando film inspired by the true and unorthodox exploits of raiding units such as the Long Range Desert Group, Popski's Private Army and the S.A.S. during the North Africa campaign, 1940-43. The film stars Michael Caine, Nigel Davenport, Nigel Green and Harry Andrews. Both Caine and Green had worked with Saltzman on The Ipcress File. From the Bond collection of bibliographer Jon Gilbert (pencil signature within).

When an American space capsule crashes in an uncharted region of Africa, Merriwether, based on his alleged expert knowledge of the region, is selected to recover the capsule. Joining Merriwether and his pre-Kervorkian suicide kit, is security agent Frederica Larsen (Edie Adams). Hot on their heels are Russian agents Luba (Anita Ekberg) and Dr. Ezra Mungo (Lionel Jeffries), who want to get to the space capsule first. Self wrappers. Title page present, integral with front wrapper, dated 1st June 1962, noted as Original Screen Treatment on the front wrapper, with credits for producers Saltzman and Broccoli. 35 leaves, mimeograph on gray stock. Pages Very Good plus to Near Fine, side stapled with a single staple.

Octavo, pp.189; [3], blank. Publisher's brown cloth with photographic dust-jacket. Some fading, near fine. With a loose handwritten note in French, on the author's personal headed paper (H. Peter Friedlaender), addressed to Jacqueline Saltzman (small loss, some dampmarking). "In the best Fleming tradition" [Manchester Evening News]. A British secret service thriller featuring Ogle-Oxley, likened to James Bond. Presented to the James Bond film producer Harry Saltzman and his French-naturalised wife. Saltzman co-founded Danjaq, S.A. with Albert R. Broccoli in 1962, the parent company of Eon Productions being a holding company for James Bond screen rights. The moniker Danjaq is a combination of Broccoli and Saltzman's wives' first names, Dana and Jacqueline. This copy was later part of the comprehensive James Bond collection assembled by Jon Gilbert (bookplate within). His comprehensive guide to the works of Ian Fleming (2012) won the 16th Breslauer Prize for bibliography.
