Mr. and Mrs. William Gunn were enthusiastic but uncritical collectors of over 600 American primitive paintings (they left no records or research). The collection now belongs to the NY State Historical Society, where they have been researching and restoring the paintings. The catalogue by Agnes Halsey Jones and Louis C. Jones includes information about American folk art in general and the Gunn Collection in particular with notes on each of the 80 paintings in the exhibition. With a brief essay about Mr. and Mrs. Gunn.
