Letzterer zahlt durch seinen Einsatz in zahlreichen offentlichen Gebauden zu Norwegens popularsten Stuhlen, auf dem zumindest jeder Norweger schon einmal virtuell Platz genommen hat; auf seinem Stuhl Gardist alle uber den Osloer Flughafen Gardermoen Reisenden. Sven Ivar Dysthe hat daruber hinaus mit der Entwicklung einer revolutionaren Ski-Bindung aus Kunststoff wesentlich zur Entwicklung der Skiausstattung in den 1970ern - und den damaligen Erfolgen norwegischer Sportler - beigetragen. Die Mobelentwurfe des preisgekronten Designers Sven Ivar Dysthe sind heute so popular wie zur Zeit ihres Entwurfes und sichern ihm einen herausragenden Platz in der skandinavischen Designgeschichte.
