The map is in German and has two inset maps (scale 1: 15000) with detailed images of the works at Amsterdam and Gorcum, and a frame with a length and cross section(s) of the canal. The map was published together with the case on the occasion of the opening of the canal to shipping on 4 August 1892 by Queen Wilhelmina and Queen Regent Emma in Vreeswijk. - The Gebroeders J. en H. van Langenhuysen were Dutch printers who were active in the late 19th century. They are known for their woodcuts and lithographic prints.
