Evatt records the clash between William Bligh (17 years after the mutiny on the Bounty), who was Governor of New South Wales, and John Macarthur and officers of the New South Wales Corps over control of the importation of rum, used for trading. Bligh tried to restrict the importation of rum, and his officers rebelled and arrested Bligh. Additional subtitle on title page: 'Including the John Murtagh Macrossan Memorial Lectures Delivered at the University of Queensland, June 1937'. (Originally published by Angus & Robertson in 1938, and later reissued many times by various publishers. (This copy: a 1977 reprint of the A&R Classics paperback edition. Excellent copy.
