Añadir al carritoSee his entry in Who Was Who. The thirteen items in good condition, lightly aged, most with RSA date stamp and annotations. A total of 12pp, 8vo, in autograph; and 5pp, 4to, typed. The first ten signed 'D T Chadwick' and the last three 'David Chadwick'. The earliest letter, to RSA Secretary Sir Henry Trueman Wood on 22 December 1916, deals with the publication of Chadwick's remarks 'at the discussion on Prof. Todds paper before the Indian Section of the Society of Arts'. On 11 July 1918 he asks if it is possible for the Department of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, to 'go up for Membership, as a record of the papers read are of undoubted use to this office', discussing the matter at some length. ('I want the journal to belong to this office [last two words underlined twice] & not be claimed by the Dept. Is my confrere in Calcutta - the Director General of Commercial Intelligence [named in a subsequent letter as H. A. F. Lindsay] - a member? He ought to join.') He concludes the letter that follows 'No thanks are due to me for trying to help the Society. I think it is most useful.' Letter of 3 September 1918 concerns the publication in the RSA journal of a lecture given by him at the British Scientific Products Exhibition, concluding 'I found I had omitted all mention of Indigo & of the Behar planters. For Heaven's sake don't tell anyone so.' Among other letters on the same topic is one of 9 September 1918, explaining the reason for an addition he is making to the lecture: 'I have added this because I see from some of the brief Press extracts which have appeared that a somewhat false impression has been conveyed, namely that all classes in India were benefiting economically from the war. Such, of course, is not the case, and I think it should make it clear that my lecture was in no sense an economic survey of India in war-time, but merely a summary of some of her industrial efforts.' On 29 May 1930 he writes with regard to an IAB 'conference of those engaged in the Empire on research in regard to fruit production', for which the RSA has agreed to rent out rooms, with payment 'for current used and something to the operator of the lantern. The Society would also, if necessary, provide teas, of course on payment by those attending the Conference'. The last two letters also concern this 'Empire Horticulturists' Conference'.

Wetton to FEP of Vol. I, armorial bookplates of John Lees to both FEPs, internally clean and crisp. Pierre Terrail, seigneur de Bayard (c. 1476-1524), renowned French Knight, commonly known as Chevalier de Bayard. The epitome of chivalric virtue, Bayard was one of the most renowned military commanders of the sixteenth century Europe. He served with distinction under Charles VIII, securing numerous victories during the First Italian War. UnderÂLouis XII he was the hero of many combats; on one occasion he is said to have single-handedly defended a bridge over the Garigliano against 200 Spanish troops, an exploit that brought him such renown that PopeÂJulius IIÂsought unsuccessfully to entice him into the papal service. In 1508 he fought at the siege of Genoa and, later, at Padua. Despite being severely wounded at Brescia, he nevertheless enthusiastically joined theÂBattle of RavennaÂ(1512). In 1515, on the accession of Francis I, he was made lieutenant general ofÂDauphinà , notably holding Mà zià res with 1,000 men against the opposing forces of Holy Roman emperor Charles V totalling 35,000 troops. He was totally wounded whilst campaigning in Italy in 1524, dying in the midst of the enemy. For his unwavering gaiety and kindness his contemporaries dubbed him 'le bon chevalier'; as the centuries have passed the epithet e chevalier sans peur et sans reproche (the knight without fear and beyond reproach) has been more commonly adopted. This first edition in English of French author Jacque de Mailles' biography of the Chevalier was translated by Sara Coleridge (1802-1852), the only daughter of Samuel Taylor Coleridge. This was her second published work, following her translation of Dobrizhoffer's book on Paraguay, Historia de Abiponibus (1784), issued by John Murray in 1822. Size: 8vo.

Añadir al carritoPaperback. Condición: new. Paperback. The Power Within is a secret you would not expect to be revealed in our current society of self-made destinies. As we each endeavor upon our own path of enlightenment, based upon self-centeredness, self-endulgence and allbeit, self-righteousness, we wonder why everything we pursue does not net the results we intend. The answer is simple; it is not just about us. It is however about the world around us and how we interact with it. No man is an island, (to reflect on a familiar phrase). We each have within us the power to control ourselves, the power to control our thoughts and yes, to a degree the power to control outcome based upon the choices we make. But did you ever wonder why you cannot maintain that power of positive thinking, feeling powerful and in control ALL the time? Again, it is because it is not about us. What we want from life, what we endeavor to pursue, what we believe should be is all an integral part of a much bigger plan. Society today appears to be different and far more liberal than we viewed it in the past. Imagine just for a moment that we are able to travel back and forth through time. We would conclude the exact same belief; that society IS different and far more liberal than it used to be or could ever be in the future. But it is not "society" that is different, or liberal; it is the sum of its parts. It is we, the people, its participants in life who bring to society the different, the liberal and the "me" factor. Through the Ages we are referred to as history, through the documented activity of our experiences, but in the end "societies" are all quite similar in nature. As are the people who participate. Sadly, very little has changed over the 6000+ year course of man's life. There is still war, there is still strife, there is still sin and greatest of all, there is still man believing that he has improved over that course of time. Having been created in the very image of God, one would think that along the course we would have improved ever so slightly for the greater good. If for no other reason but to acknowledge the fact that we are created for the purpose of serving our Creator. Now, imagine that single purpose, and by simply believing in it you could achieve all that you ever dreamed possible. The Power Within is the oldest known secret to all societies, past and present. Not only did God create man in His very image, but He created man to fulfill His destiny by working through him. Empowering man in order to achieve His purpose, His will and His destiny enables each and every one of us to achieve greater than we ever thought possible while existing in a world so temporary. The difference is temporary versus permanent. We are temporary; God is permanent. Alone, without God working through us, our dreams, goals and destiny are quite temporary because the average lifespan of man is an approximation of only 80 years. We cannot hope to live longer than our destiny permits, nor can we influence beyond the scope of our existence. However, with God, working through us, empowering us to His far greater good our very timeline blends seamlessly with God's infinite and everlasting timeline. It really is that simple. But it is also a choice that only you can make. You can choose to continue to go through life alone, believing that is only about you or you can choose to invite God to work through you, empowering you to His greater Glory. There is no richer, more fulfilling lifestyle and you will never feel alone or be alone again. Choose to discover God like you've never imagined Him to be - your very own Power Within. Añadir al carritoPaperback. Condición: new. Paperback. DELIVERANCE IS ABOUT LIVING LIFE AS GOD INTENDS FOR US TO LIVE, NOT HOW WE PERCEIVE HIS INTENTIONS. SOMETIMES THE BIBLE IS NOT ENOUGH WHEN WE ARE STRUGGLING TO COMPREHEND ITS MEANING RELATIVE TO EVERYDAY LIFE. IT CAN BE CONFUSING, MISUNDERSTOOD AND JUST PLAIN MISINTERPRETED WHEN WE RELY ON OTHERS FOR TRANSLATION. OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD IS PERSONAL, THEREFORE HOW WE MAKE DECISIONS BASED UPON HIS PURPOSE FOR OUR LIVES NEEDS TO BE EQUALLY PERSONAL. GOD'S HOLY SCRIPTURES ARE HIS LOVE LETTER TO US, HIS CREATION. HE DESIRES THAT WE UNDERSTAND HIM THROUGH HIS WORD AND HE SHOULD BE OUR ONLY INTERPRETER. DELIVERANCE SPELLS ALL THIS OUT, AND MORE! WORKING WITH THE BIBLE, IT'S EASY TO READ, EASY TO UNDERSTAND AND REFERENCES ACTUAL SCRIPTURE VERSES AS THEY RELATE TO A PARTICULAR LIFE SITUATION. HOW MANY TIMES DO YOU GO TO THE BIBLE SEEKING ANSWERS TO WHAT GOD EXPECTS ONLY TO FEEL FURTHER FRUSTRATED BECAUSE YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND THE MEANING OF A VERSE RELATIVE TO YOUR SITUATION? OR WORSE - HOW MANY TIMES DO YOU FEEL YOU ARE SEEKING ONE ANSWER ONLY TO DISCOVER GOD HAS A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT AGENDA IN MIND? WHEN THIS HAPPENS, WE NOT ONLY DO NOT LIKE HIS ANSWER, BUT ARE FURTHER FRUSTRATED BECAUSE WE FEEL THAT OUR PRAYERS ARE NOT BEING ANSWERED EITHER. DELIVERANCE IS A JOURNEY OF ENLIGHTENMENT AND EYE-OPENING SOLUTIONS OF EXACTLY WHO GOD IS, WHAT HE EXPECTS OF US AND HOW WE CAN ABUNDANTLY ENJOY HIS COMPANY AS HE ENJOYS OURS. TO UNDERSTAND SOMEONE IS TO KNOW THEM. GOD WANTS US TO KNOW HIM SO THAT WE CAN UNDERSTAND HIM BECAUSE ONLY THEN CAN WE FULFILL THE PURPOSE HE HAS IN MIND FOR US. TO BE DELIVERED IS DIVINELY ORCHESTRATED BY GOD HIMSELF AND IT IS HIS PURPOSE FOR EVERY HUMAN BEING. GOD DESIRES THAT NONE SHALL PERISH, BUT ALL SHOULD ENJOY ETERNAL LIFE WITH HIM. HOWEVER, WE MUST BE WILLING TO LIVE ON GOD'S OWN TERMS, SET FOR US WHEN WE WERE CREATED. WHETHER YOU ARE CHRISTIAN OR NON-CHRISTIAN; BELIEVER IN GOD OR NON-BELIEVER, ABSOLUTELY EVERY HUMAN BEING WILL ONE DAY MEET GOD FACE TO FACE. YOU WILL MEET HIM UPON YOUR WELCOME INTO HEAVEN, AS YOU HAVE BEEN DELIVERED, OR YOU WILL MEET HIM ON THE JUDGMENT DAY FOR YOUR UNREPENTED SINS, BUT YOU WILL MEET HIM. THIS JOURNEY TOWARD DELIVERANCE IS NOT SIMPLY SEEKING CONTENTMENT AND FREEDOM, BUT ACTUALLY SEEKING GOD PERSONALLY IN ORDER TO BE DELIVERED FROM THIS WORLD. ONLY THROUGH THAT PERSONAL CONNECTION, INITIATED BY YOU WILL YOU FIND THE PEACE, CONTENTMENT AND FREEDOM WHICH HAS ELUDED YOU. THIS SECURITY IS IN A PERSON, NOT IN A CIRCUMSTANCE. DELIVERANCE ANSWERS THE TOUGH QUESTIONS, LENDS PERSPECTIVE WHERE YOU THOUGHT THERE WAS NONE AND BRINGS INTO CLARITY THE PERSON OF WHO GOD IS. YES, HE IS A PERSON WHOM WE HAVE THE FREEDOM TO INTERACT WITH ON A DAILY BASIS AND HE WANTS US TO KNOW HIM. IN FACT HIS MESSAGE IS SO SIMPLE THAT IT BELIES LOGIC - "COME TO ME ALL YOU WHO ARE WEARY AND OVERBURDENED AND I WILL GIVE YOU REST." IF YOU ARE WEARY AND OVERBURDENED BY LIFE'S PRESSURES THEN DELIVERANCE IS FOR YOU. STRAIGHTFORWARD AND INFORMATIVE, DELIVERANCE PROMISES TO SHED LIGHT AT THE END OF YOUR PROVERBIAL TUNNEL. QUOTED THROUGHOUT ARE REAL BIBLICAL PASSAGES ABOUT PEOPLE, PLACES AND CIRCUMSTANCES THAT YOU ARE SURE TO IDENTIFY WITH. ONCE BELIEVING THAT THEY ONLY HAPPENED "TO SOMEONE ELSE." YOU WILL IDENTIFY WITH THE STRUGGLES OF REAL LIFE BIBLICAL CHARACTERS AND BE ABLE TO IDENTIFY BASED UPON YOUR OWN CIRCUMSTANCES. YOU WILL FIND TRUE KINSHIP WITH OTHERS WHOM GOD CREATED FOR HIS PURPOSES AND KNOW BEYOND A SHADOW OF A DOUBT THAT GOD HAS A PURPOSE FOR EVERY HUMAN BEING, NOT JUST A SELECT FEW. MAY GOD RICHLY BLESS YOU THROUGH THE READING OF THESE PAGES; SHOWER UPON YOU HIS DIVINE ANOINTING AND EMBRACE YOU AS HIS OWN. This item is printed on demand.
