Añadir al carritoPaperback. Condición: New. Language: English. About the book:- This book is a collection of essays written by the author on the beauty and influence of Indian Art. The definition of art, for the author, stretches from the well-known specimens from the Ajanta Caves to the floor patterns that are met with in every village. One of the essays in this volume has been published in India. ÔThe Women of the Ajanta Caves Ôappeared in pamphlet form in 1923. The remaining essays are now published for the first time. The diagrams, of which there are 22 different examples, are drawings of the ÒRangolisÓ or sand-pictures of the Pathare Prabhu Women. With regard to the stories contained in the essay entitled ÒThe Worshippers of BeautyÓ it may be mentioned that these were written down as nearly as possible as they were told to him by Indian friends. The slight differences in the form of the story of Savitri seem to his mind rather to increase than diminish its interest, since that is the way this ancient tale was repeated to him. The essays that comprise this book are 1) the women of the Ajanta Caves; 2) the worshippers of beauty; 3) sanchi and the Indian view-point in art; 4) the Indian art student. The book also contains 11 fine illustrations which he has preserved from oblivion. ) About the author:-William Ewart Gladstone Solomon was born on March 24, 1880 in Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa in a Jewish family. He was an author, journalist and painter. He worked extensively on IndiaÕs art and culture in his 30 publications in English language. He was the member of Library Congress. He was the particular sponsor of the concept of a South African confederation, and pushed through the legislation necessary to build hospitals, prisons, legislative houses, etc. He was ever a champion of native rights, and of adequate monetary compensation for native labor, etc. The Title 'The Charm Of Indian Art written/authored/edited by W. E. Gladstone Solomon', published in the year 2020. The ISBN 9788121232272 is assigned to the Paperback version of this title. This book has total of pp. 164 (Pages).
