"James Scotland, a young pathologist, has come to Melchester on a much-needed vacation. But amid the cathedral town's quiet medieval atmosphere, he finds a hornet's nest of church politics, town and country rivalries. . . and murder. When one of the community's most influential figures dies suddenly (and very publicly), Scotland uncovers some curious alliances among church, state, and big business. Modern forensic pathology, the age-old mysteries of the church, and a bit of unexpected romance all play a part as Scotland unravels the unsettling truth about Melchester."; 6¾" - 7¾" Tall.

Ex-library with all the usual stuff including rear endpaper removed and DJ in protective plastic wrap taped to boards. DJ shows some staining and soiling with a sunned spine. Text has light dampstaining along bottom and side edges. A decent reading copy. "Robert Broke, a recent widower, had withstood the charms of Florence and confined himself to his rare-book store there. But his knowledge of Etruscan art and a lavish party given by eccentric Professor Bronzini pulled Robert out of his shell. This delighted Elizabeth, who had her eye on him, and Tina, who kept house for him and had become more than fond of him. Professor Bronzini not only gave elaborate parties but he was busily excavating his family's tombs, full of superb relics. Tina's father, a great craftsman, if rather too fond of his vino, was helping the professor restore these treasures. Etruscan relics, god ones, are of interest to many collectors, some of whom are rather sinister and don't mind arranging a murder or two."; Ex-Library; 7¾" - 9¾" Tall.

"Anthony Brydon, an appealing young solicitor of somewhat limited experience in respect to both politics and women, first senses something wrong in his pleasant home town in Kent when he sees two teen-aged boys brutally ejected from the town's new recreation center. One boy is hurled into the gutter; the second is held by one man and hit by another. Anthony naturally intervenes and soon becomes enmeshed in a murky affair that leads to scandalous corruption and murder. As Anthony probes beneath the town's quiet surface, he discovers that a civilized exterior often conceals the foulest secrets."; Ex-Library; 7¾" - 9¾" Tall.

Añadir al carritoOther. Condición: Very Good+. Illustrated by Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers Ilustrador. Color Illustrations; This is a single piece of paper (17" x 11 1/2" ) folded once vertically, making four pages. The program is in Very Good+ condition. There is one very light wrinkle to the paper (looks like it was formed during the makeup of the paper). There is some slight toning to the edges of the white outer pages. There is one tiny crease / tear to the spine of the program towards the bottom edge. The color illustrations are very bright and vivid. "To promote their concerts in both San Francisco and Denver, Family Dog published a series of innovative psychedelic posters, handbills and other ephemera, created by a group of prominent young San Francisco artists including Wes Wilson, Alton Kelley and Stanley Mouse (Mouse Studios) , Rick Griffin, Steve Renick and Victor Moscoso. Often printed using intensely colored fluorescent inks, they typically featured a mixture of found images and specially drawn artwork. The posters of Griffin, Mouse and Kelly, in particular, were known for the intricate and highly stylized hand-lettering in which the concert details were written out, which sometimes took considerable time and effort to decipher. Original Avalon posters are now collector's items. In a slide show published with the obituary at the time of Wilson's death in 2020, The New York Times included an apparent portrait watercolor of Helmsa book in the foreground has Helms' full name on it.
