This book is a 1773 reprint of the original and comes from the library of Charles Wordsworth, who was a prominent Scottish Episcopal Theologian in the 1800's. Charles was the nephew of William Wordsworth, an important English poet, who is credited with having helped start the Romantic Age of English literature. This book is in very good condition for its age. Full leather hardcovers. Gilt stamp design on both covers as well as spine. Covers and spine well worn with a moderate amount of rubbing and some staining as well. Spine head chipped, with small tear at the top of the rear joint. Black leather label near head of spine with gilt lettering, partially detached. Both covers starting, with worn joints. Front cover is nearly detached, but is being held intact by the binding. Marbled endpapers. Library bookplate inside front board. Illustrated frontispiece. Some illustrations within. Previous owner's name in pencil on front free endpaper. Mild foxing mostly contained in the front leaves before and including the title page. Little to no foxing throughout main text body. Main text body is completely free of underlining, handwriting, or marginalia. LVIII. 936 pp. Purple satin bookmark attached. Yellow page edges (not gilt). Binding rubbed and lightly bumped in places, text block spotted and browned, but the spine remains satisfyingly bright, and this is a good plus copy overall. A previous owner has added tabs to the fore-edge of 6 of the pages for ease of reference.
