Bound in red leather with the gilt stamping on the front cover and the spine, though the gilt has rubbed and worn over time. The fore-edge is colored red, as well. 474 pages + graph paper at the back. The leather of the wraps and spine is worn, as well, with tear on the hinges, missing leather at the foot of the spine and corners, chipped corners and edges, and much rubbing. The endpapers are chipped as well. "Roy R. Carter, University of Illinois 09-10" is written in aged ink on the front free endpaper. Scattered throughout are also the occasional pencil tick or circle. The graph paper section at the back of the book has some technical notes written in ink. The frontispiece is a folding page with black & white illustrations of the company's Cambria Works, Gautier Works, and Franklin Works. It is torn on the left edge, about 2". There are many other illustrations throughout of steels beams and bars, etc., most in black & white but some with light blue details. With a strong, sturdy binding, though the gutter is cracked in a few places throughout and the binding is cocked. No loose or missing pages. Included in this volume: Sections of I-Beams, Channels, Angles, etc.; Diagram for Minimum Standard Beams and Channels; Moments of Inertia of Rectangles; Explanations of Safe Loads for Beam Box Girders and Plate Girders; Dimensions of Rivet Heads after Driving; and much more.

Penned prior owner info in the upper corner of the ffep. The contents (X + 474 - blank graph pages) otherwise appear clean, complete and securely bound. Flexible burgundy leather with yapped edges and stamped gilt lettering on the spine and front cover. The spine is somewhat sun faded and has a quarter inch top edge tear. The covers have a stamped line border and several scuffs (which to these eyes add character rather than constituting significant flaws). Close inspection also shows the prior owner's name has been etched on the front cover just above the bottom border line. NOT an ex-library copy!
