Añadir al carritoPaperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book unveils the dynamic relationship between forest fires and the critical role of fire retardant chemicals in controlling their destructive force. The author delves into the scientific underpinnings of flammability, exploring the intricate interactions between fuels, fire retardants, and the combustion process. Through meticulous experimentation, the book quantifies the effects of ammonium sulfate and ammonium phosphate on the rate of fire spread, energy release, and residue formation. This in-depth analysis establishes a scientific foundation for evaluating the effectiveness of fire retardants. By presenting a comprehensive understanding of fire retardant chemistry and its practical applications, this book becomes an invaluable resource for fire science professionals, land managers, and anyone seeking to mitigate the devastating impact of wildfires. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.

Añadir al carritoPaperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book assesses the ground distribution patterns of three of the most commonly used fire retardant formulations, Phos-Chek XA, Fire Trol 100, and Fire-Trol 931 (liquid concentrate), in addition to water, which was used as a standard. Seventy-four drops were made over 820 cups in a grid system. The cups were collected and weighed, the concentration in gallons per 100 square feet computed and summarized, and a computer plot of the ground distribution patterns printed. The study provides the basic data from which trade-off studies between retardant salt content and effective areas can be performed. Optimum retardant salt contents for both thickened and unthickened retardants can then be established. The basic data can also be utilized in drop mechanization studies designed to improve either the retardant solution or the delivery systems. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
